The mid-day meal scheme in India was a program started by the Indian Government to provide free lunch to school students. The needy children of our country chose eating one square meal to studying in school. Due to this they involve themselves in doing menial jobs to earn money. This escalated the drop-out rates of school children. The mid-day meal programme aimed at bringing these children back to school. This will aim towards increasing literacy rates in our country and decreasing poverty. The mid-day meal programme in India helps in improving the nutritional status of the children and in turn of the country. For More details please visit: www.akshayapatra.org |
